Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor guiding two students through a no-gi technique during class at a beginner-friendly academy in Murfreesboro, Tennessee

Elephant in the room: we’re a brand new jiu jitsu school. We’re working hard to get more time slots online for our students.

There is a silver lining to this: Our classes tend to have plenty of students. We also have a surprising amount of advanced belts to train with.

How are classes run?

We generally follow this format:

Core Movement Drills: These are fundamental movements that you use every day in jiu-jitsu without even thinking about it. Things like bridging, shrimping, hip heisting, and backsteps. They’re also cooler than just calling them “warmups”

Defense Techniques:

You shall not pass. Defense is the bread and butter of jiu jitsu. We learn to defend everything from everywhere.

Offense Deep Dive:

Defense is broad, but offense should be focused. We stay with attacks from a certain position for several classes so students can have a clear advantage from the position.

Stand-up:

We try and do standing grappling every class. But we move it towards the end when we are the most warmed-up.

Positional Sparring/Games:

A ramp up to sparring with a focused game or positional drill
